I just downloaded this game the other day and while I haven't been able to do very much, it looks very nice and I wish to continue, but every time I am about to meet the king after dealing with the three knights during the "Hoopskirts" quest, the game just closes immediately, I managed to get past it once, but as soon as Bard Knight joins the party and we depart, it just closes again, and since I can't save until I get back to the overworld map, I am just stuck beginning the whole thing all over again. On a related note, I don't know why, but Zonealarm doesn't seem to like this game too much, as it has closed the exe twice now, claiming it was a virus and swiftly deleted the exe. I've changed the trust on it so it shouldn't delete it, but it seems to still recognize it as a virus.

Update, I tried running the game again several times, and every time now has been the same result. As soon as I deal with the three knights, as the dialogue says I am about to meet the king, the game closes, and the towergirls.exe deletes itself, not even to be found in the recycle bin, forcing me to re-extract it from the original zip I downloaded

Anti-virus software tends to mark any executable file smaller than a certain amount of MB to be a virus, operating on the better-safe-than-sorry reasoning. Towergirls also grabs some encrypted asset files and decrypts them during runtime, which may also raise some flags on the software. One of the 'decrypt things' happens right before meeting with the king and that's where where your anti-virus software is throwing a fit.
I can say with complete certainty that the game is not actually a virus and does not have viruses in it. Zonealarm is just being a little overzealous, it sounds like. If you want to go super sneaky-cheeki-breeki-avoid-viruses mode you could try running the game on another computer or a public one.
Failing that, try playing around with the settings more.
Lemme know if any of that helps.

I decided to turn zonealarm completely off and tried again, and I was able to play through Human Princess's quest with no crashes. The only problem I noticed was that I could not visit the shops, upon seeing the art for the Blacksmith or the Merchant it just exited back out to the map. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what was the "fetish" pop-up about? I saw it after breaking the mirror, (which was a really interesting fight), but I couldn't find it in the Book anywhere.

After defeating many of the minibosses (Read, the two existing ones) you are given a fetish item that can be turned into various equipment by Forge Knight. That's a quest called 'New Fetish Acquired'. Necessary lame pun.
Glad that it worked this time around. Part of the problem with the shops has been fixed, at least with Endless Fields, but I'll be sure to keep trying to replicate that on my end and fix it.
Thanks for the reporting.

Yes. So long as you got the .exe from the downloaded .zip, and the .zip was greater than like 100 MB, that is entirely normal.
